Print on canvas is made with 2 cm color border for the gallery wrap, making it possible to hang the artwork without a frame, and with a 2 to 5 cm white border to secure the canvas to the back of the stretcher.

Giclée and premium giclée prints

Giclée and premium giclée (from the French verb gicler, to squirt out) are fine art canvas prints to which our workshop artists add finishing touches by hand using paints, gels, varnishes, and other art materials. This enlivens the print, adding texture and volume to the canvas and emphasising the artist’s signature style.

Giclée and premium giclée prints differ in size of the treated surface. With giclée prints, the artist adds only the basic brushstrokes, highlighting the most important elements of the artwork.

Premium giclée is a fine art print with a larger part of its surface covered with gels and paints. Such prints look like actual paintings and closely resemble the original artworks.

We offer two sizes for the posters: А1 (84,1х59,4 cm) an А0 (118,9х84,1 cm). The image is printed on the think poster paper. Compared with a paper print, poster is an economic, cheaper option, which does not, however, provide as much detail and color.

Technique (print)

The archival heavy paper is used to make the “paper print”. In this case, the image of the size you have selected is printed with a 2 to 5 cm white border. You can then frame and mat such work yourself.

Frames and mattes

A paper print can be framed or matted. Please note that the size of the finished artwork you select includes the frame or the matte.

A matte is a thick coloured cardboard that is used to frame a drawing, a painting, a photograph or any other artwork. Our mattes are made from museum-quality acid free cardboard. The following table shows the matte sizes suitable for different print sizes:

We use cardboard tubes with metal end caps for packaging unframed prints on canvas and paper prints. The tube protects the artwork during transportation, preventing a painting from crumpling or tearing. It is also the most economical type of delivery.

A stretcher is a wooden frame over which a canvas is spread. Modular stretchers made from pine have a width of 5 cm and a depth of 2 cm. They are complete with the wedge-shaped keys in order to regulate the tension of the canvas. To add strength and stability to the larger stretcher frames (65 cm and over), we use cross bars.

Canvas prints are gallery wrapped, which means that the edges of the canvas are painted and the stretched painting doesn’t have “white spots”. Therefore, the painting will look great on the wall even without a frame.

Note that internationally we only ship the painting reproductions packaged in a tube. This will reduce the cost of delivery.

You can add a “gift-wrap” option to the cart. The option becomes available when you order either a painting on stretcher or a framed artwork and costs 500 rubles. In this case, the work is wrapped with stylish Kraft paper and tied up with Erarta branded ribbon. The artwork is accompanied by the original card. In the comments about your order, you can write a message, which we will accurately reproduce on the card.

This option is available for the artworks on stretcher or with a frame.

We advise you to arrange additional insurance in the transport company for the large orders, fragile goods and original artworks sent abroad. The cost of this option is up to 1% of the order cost.
