Gavrichkov Mikhail
Was born in Leningrad in 1963.
Studied at general art school.
In 1987 graduated from the Department graphic design of the Saint Petersburg Repin State Academic Institute of Painting Sculpture and Architecture;
In 1991 joined the Union of Artists of Russia.
Participated in more than 200 exhibitions in Russia and abroad (30 of them were solo ones).
Works in etching and easel graphics techniques. Designs ex-librises.
Member of multiple international competitions in Belgium, Holland, France, and Italy and world congresses in the Czech Republic (1996), Russia (1998), and The United States (2000).
The artist's works are presented in the collections of the State Hermitage Library, The Public Library named after M. Saltykov-Shchedrin, The Cambridge University Library, The French Museum of Playing Cards, The Museum of Contemporary Er otica in Switzerland,as well as in private collections in Italy, the UK, Germany and the USA.
Since 1988 the author has been working as a book illustrator. He created illustrations for the following editions: "Novels by E.T.A. Hoffmann", "Plays by E. Schwartz", " Myths of Ancient Greece "," Tales of the old times"by R. Kipling, "Peter Pan" by D. Barry", "The Gold-Bug " by E. Poe, "History of the Russian State" by N. Karamzin, and many others.
From 1996 to 2000 was teaching drawing, composition, etching and linocut in the Herzen State Pedagogical University.
Holder of fellowship of The Mariinsky Theatre Fund of Trustees (1995).
Winner of the scholarship of the President of the Russian Federation (1997).
In 2003 won the first prize in the International Bookplate Competition, dedicated to the 300th anniversary of St. Petersburg.
In 2004, presented solo exhibition of etchings "Saga of the Icelanders" at the State Hermitage Museum.
From 2005 to 2006 was engaged in creation of illustrations for the tales of E.T.A. Hoffmann for "Vita Nova" publishing house.
In 2007, the artist's works were shown at the exhibition "Pictures and conversations" in the center of aesthetic education of the State Pushkin Museum, Moscow.
In 2013, he completed illustrations for 4 volume edition of "Memoirs about Sherlock Holmes" by A.K. Doyle.
Current member of the art-group "Koldovskie Khudozhniki" and a participant of the" Lenenerbe" art-project (Erarta Museum of Contemporary Art, 2013).
