Kopeikin Nicolay

He was born in 1966 in St. Petersburg where he continues to live and pursue his artistic career. Kopeikin paints in a crude style that is (very likely) influenced by anything you can think of, from French Fauvists to editorial cartoons through German expressionism, masterfully mocking everything from everyday Russian life to international affairs. Don't be fooled by his almost naïve approach: he's got quite an ideological punch, maintaining an idea that the content is more important than the form.

Nikolay Kopeikin is also a filmmaker and has participated and won several national and international film festivals (Moscow KF 'Styk', Rotterdam International Film Festival, Kinoshock-2008). He is also the founders of studio NOMFILM where, in cooperation with A. Kagadeevym they have been making short films such as "Apiary", "Geopolipy", "Belaruskaya true story", "Fantomas removes the mask".

Since 1999 he has been working with the musical team of NOM, one of the most popular "joke rock" acts in Russia with a genuine cult underground status. N. Kopeikin is also one of the founders of the creative association "Art sect" KOLHUI.
