Lebedeva Zoya

In Udmurtia and great culture centers of Russia (Moscow, St. Petersburg etc.), Zoya Lebedeva is well-known as the author of a unique weaving technique. She creates panel pictures using plants as key material. She calls it “flortekstil”. Zoya creates her picture panels from grass collected in the meadows of Udmurtia. But more often it's a wormwood, which in dry form exudes a wonderful aroma.

Another unique and constant theme in Zoya's art is — “Ongon”, small “primitive” dolls, which have strong connection with ancient mythical times. The artist believes that human life, even in her most simple part is magical. We just forgot about it or choose not to see it.

Zoya Lebedeva also creates comics... More precisely, It's Lubok pictures, where the main character is Kinzhoduh Yaoz (Zoya name and title “Artist” in Russian, spelled backwards).

Several of her works, made in distinct technique flortekstil, are in the collection of Erarta Museum, they can be seen in the Origins U-Space on the second floor.
